Signs are promising for 2,000th installation
Greens 'The Signmaker' has taken delivery of Roland's 2,000th printer installation
Following the purchase of a new Advanced Jet AJ-1000 grand-format printer, Hull-based Greens 'The Signmaker' has been named as the site of Roland DG UK’s 2,000th printer installation.
Interestingly, Greens first spotted the printer during its UK debut at Sign UK, when Greens was looking to boost its digital performance and productivity. MD Chris Green takes up the story: “We did a lot of research into digital print systems, attending Sign UK to compare and contrast the equipment available. We liked what we saw on the Roland stand and ended up going to Roland’s HQ to put the machines through their paces. Apart from the quality, we were impressed by the flexibility of materials which can be handled by the printer, meaning we were no longer tied in with particular suppliers because Roland has profiles for most suppliers’ substrates.”
Designed to deliver high productivity with minimal maintenance, the AJ-1000 features EcoXtreme inks for durability and outdoor performance. Printing at 2.6m wide and at speeds of 45m2 per hour, the AJ-1000 is ideal for a range of outdoor graphics including banners, billboards, front and backlits and vehicles graphics.
To complement this system Greens also bought a Roland SolJet Pro II SC-545EX. Printing up to widths of 1.34m, this machine gives added flexibility with a print and cut facility. Using Eco-Sol Max inks, it has a resolution of up to 1,440dpi making it suitable for artwork and photograph reproduction.
With the Roland installation in place, Chris expects the business to move to the next level: “We’ve been running these systems for five months now and they have had a huge impact on our business. We are still a sign manufacturer and up to now our digital output has been aligned to signage customers, but what’s really exciting is that we can now offer our digital expertise to a much wider market.”
