Cutting edge design leads display market
Delegates can see the Kongsberg i-XL24 finishing table in action on Esko's stand
Demonstrating its commitment to the sign, display and POP market, packaging pre-production specialist, Esko, will showcase the Kongsberg i-XL24 finishing table with integrated i-cut vision control system and i-script workflow.
According to Esko, the adoption of flatbed digital printing in the sign, display and POP sectors has expanded creative design possibilities and placed a greater emphasis on digital finishing solutions. The i-XL Kongsberg series meets this demand with an automated finishing solution said to increase productivity and precision. It is compatible with a range of materials including plywood, acrylics, polycarbonates, Dibond, rigid PVC, wood, corrugated cardboard and high pressure laminates.
Products in the i-XL Kongsberg series are now available from Robert Horne, recently appointed as a distributor for the company alongside existing distributor, Mill Pond Graphics, which has been selling Esko's full range of pre-production solutions in the UK since January 2006.
During Sign UK, Esko will demonstrate the upgraded i-cut 6.2 vision control system and i-script workflow. Together these features are designed to generate exact registration and direct control for die-less cutting contours to match printed images. The i-cut camera measures each printed object using register marks to define the position and compensate for any dimensional changes, distortions or material variations like shrinkage or stretching.
Esko regional manager for the UK, Paul Bates, said: “Robust growth in the sign and display market is driven by companies with leading edge creative design ideas. Esko's finishing solutions help them bring these ideas to fruition and ensures that they are able to tap into new opportunities. The Kongsberg i-XL range, for example, is ideal for the wide format digital printer looking for a profitable finishing solution, with the tables' versatility and productivity enabling them to win new business in the sign and display marketplace.
“Mill Pond Graphics was the most successful new i-XL dealer last year and combined with the presence of Robert Horne, Esko has high hopes for the UK sign and display markets.”
Alongside the i-XL, Esko will also highlight Scope, the company's packaging software suite designed to support collaboration throughout the packaging supply chain, from brand owner to retailer. Esko will demonstrate, for example, how Scope manages a range of functions, from job and product specification, through graphic and structural design and expert pre-production operations using tools such as the DeskPack which harnesses the power of the desktop for display design. Effectively, DeskPack turns Adobe Illustrator seats into full-featured BackStage clients, enabling CAD layouts to be imported into designs and designs to be viewed interactively in 3D. Completed files can be sent directly to FlexRip for output.
