Esko will demonstrate its RotaCut textile tool on a Kongsberg i-XL24 digital finishing table

Esko is introducing its new Kongsberg table RotaCut Tool at Fespa. The tool has been developed for cutting printed textiles and will be demonstrated on the Kongsberg i-XL24 digital finishing table.

Esko product manager, Tom Naess, said: “One of the reasons Kongsberg tables are so successful is the wide variety of materials they can process. Our goal is to make our tables as versatile as possible, capable of handling an ever wider variety of different substrates, from rigid to flexible. With the continued popularity of digitally printed textile signs and displays, Esko identified the need to create another cutting tool. The RotaCut Tool offers our clients the opportunity to serve on this major segment of sign materials.”

Norway-based Megaprint has already equipped its Kongsberg table with the textile-cutting tool.

Megaprint’s general manager, Sigurd Hammerstad, explained: “The difficulty with textile cutting is that the material moves so easily with air currents that it is hard to hold down while cutting. Esko has solved this with a cleverly designed rotary blade that, along with the Kongsberg’s vacuum table, cuts in perfect registration. Now we have a tool that is just as productive with flags and banners as it is with rigid displays.”

The Esko RotaCut is a drop-in insert for all XL toolheads, with the exception of the FoamHead.
