CADlink Technology has announced FilmMaker software designed for creating film separations on inkjet printers. Supported products include Epson 1800, 4800, 7800 and 9800 printers.

The company states its has developed a way to use inkjet printers that support 2bit variable dot printing to create variable dot halftone output. Inkjet printers are able to achieve higher LPI rates at lower printer resolution settings. Claimed benefits are said to be substantial with users able to print faster and in greater detail. Gradients feature smooth transitions thanks to FilmMaker’s support for up to four black cartridges.

Custom variable dot halftone profiles are included in the software so users need only select the desired profile to begin creating separations instantly.

CADlink’s president, Jim Ramsden, said: “CADlink is already a world leader in providing OEM software to third parties within the screen printing industry in both inkjet film separation and direct to garment printing markets. Its great that we are now offering our own branded product to customers in Europe as well.”
