ErgoSoft has announced its Rip software supports HP’s new Designjet Z series photo printer with its own printer driver. The printer models Z2100 and Z6100 are eight-colour systems, while the Z3100 is equipped with 12-colours.
The printers use HP70 printheads, each featuring 1,056 nozzles per colour. The printheads, in conjunction with the RIP software, allow the optimisation of three different dot sizes. Thus, light areas can be printed with fine details using small dots.
All Z series printers can use matt black and photo black inks. Both inks are permanently in the printer and selected from the Rip. Thus, it is possible to print matt and glossy materials on the same printer. The ErgoSoft driver can also print both black inks together resulting in a luscious finish.
The 12-colour system includes red, green and blue, extending the gamut.
