Reducing disposal costs
Celloglas has launched Cellogreen, an environmentally friendly alternative to oriented polypropylene (OPP). Cellogreen is an over lamination film and adhesive designed to simplify waste handling and reduced disposal costs.
The first client to have adopted this new film, Wolseley’s Marcus Goss said: “We saw the benefits of this product as soon as it was introduced to us, and are proud to be the first firm to have taken up Cellogreen. The use of this product on our brochures fits alongside our sustainability objectives and our overall CSR responsibility, and we are advising our customers that they are recyclable, in the hope that they will then dispose of them responsibly. The fact that the end result looks no different is also very appealing as it means there is no compromise on quality, which is of course key.”
By using a film and adhesive that suit processing in a normal re-pulping system, any waste or side trims can be handled with general printer waste, collected and sent for recycling. This saves time sorting and separating waste on the shop-floor and reduces the volume of material sent to landfill.
Celloglas’ sales and marketing director, Steve Middleton, said: “We are very excited by this product as it offers our customers the chance to get ahead of the game. Things will have to change within our industry and the Government’s view that ‘the polluter pays’ will see increasing legislation and rising costs associated with landfill in the months and years ahead.
“We’re offering clients the opportunity to adopt new practices now, with a product that doesn’t compromise on quality or appearance. In fact, it looks identical but shows their commitment to sustainability, and saves them money. We spent quite some time researching industry reaction before launching this and we’re pleased to say for most it’s a no brainer.”
