By combining an ingenious audio system with artwork produced on an Epson large format inkjet printer, SoundArt has produced a new interior design feature in the form of a wall mounted slim line sound system.

The company chose two large format Epson Stylus Pro 9800 inkjet printers to produce the images because of their ability to print quality images direct onto large size canvasses. Customers can select an image from SoundArt's on-line gallery or supply their own photograph to customise the system with the colour gamut of the Epson Ultrachrome K3 ink set enabling SoundArt to achieve varied effects across a range of images, from classic oil paintings, to contemporary graphics and detailed photographs. The eight-colour set features three black inks to produce fine gradations in colour and black and white printing, giving a true replication of skin tones and smooth tonal reproduction.

Managing director, SoundArt UK, Mark Butcher, said: “Our SoundArt product has been so popular that we have gone global with it. We are taking on two or three new resellers each week and now have about 60 worldwide.”

Canvasses are available in a variety of sizes from 40 by 50cm unit priced at £800 to the 95 by 150cm dual stereo panel at £1,150 which includes a choice of image plus a hi-fi quality 2:1 subwoofer.
