Overtaking environmental targets in print production
A series of energy saving and recycling features have been incorporated in Capital's new East London facilities as part of the company's commitment to the environment.
The company provides a range of marketing services from concept design to wide format and 3D POS displays from the site, which has an environmental BREEAM rating of very good.
Head of sales and marketing, Russell Tookey, said: “At Capital we are committed to choosing the most environmentally friendly path and have been ISO 9001 accredited for many years. Our relocation to make way for the 2012 Olympic zone means our new premises have been custom-built allowing us to incorporate features to conserve power and minimise carbon emissions. In some instances, we have been able to overtake government targets. For example, the new building will reduce our carbon emissions by 12.65 per cent and the government target is 10 per cent by 2012. We are delighted to be able to help reduce our environmental impact.”
Features of the new premises include: passive stack ventilation
PSV to take the warm air from
within the building to exhaust outlets at high level; photovoltaic (PV) technology, to generate electricity from light; solar water heating; ground source heat pumps that extract
low-grade heat from the ground
and convert it to higher temperatures for use as heating; and rain water harvesting
