3D printer maps high rise sales
An agreement with ArtSystems will see BlueSky supply the ZPrinter 450 for 3D aerial mapping
Aerial mapping company, BlueSky, has extended its agreement with large format imaging distributor, Art Systems, to include a 3D printing solution from Z-Corporation.
BlueSky already has an exclusive agreement to supply Contex 3D printers to central and local government organisations, as well as the geographic information system (GIS) market, so the addition of Z-Corporation's ZPrinter 450 will strengthen its position in these markets.
Not only will BlueSky offer the printer for sale as a low cost 3D printing solution, it will also offer a service to produce and supply 3D models to its cross-market client base.
Designed to combine speed and accuracy of model production with brilliant colour and detail, the system produces a physical model of a computer generated design using proprietary software to slice the design into thousands of ultra fine layers. Each layer is then printed by spreading a thin layer of composite powder onto a base fixed together using a liquid binder. 3D models can be produced in a fraction of the time compared to traditional model making methods.
Technical sales manager at BlueSky, Mat Day, said: “As with all technology there is a time lag between the first high-end solutions and the appearance of entry-level models on the market. We have seen a lot of interest in the existing units and believe the ZPrinter will enhance the product range and service we provide.”
