Raise the profile of PVC sheet

Thermoplastic sheet extruder, Palram, is improving the colour results customers can achieve with its Palight foamed PVC product, by offering ICC profiling as standard. Suitable for a range of POP and advertising applications, Palight white sheet can be used with any flatbed digital printer. It is already said to yield true colour representation for a strong, vibrant image, which will be further enhanced by ICC profiling.

This is achieved using a colour chart, printed with known amounts of CMYK. The colour patches are then measured using a spectrophotometer, which measures colour in the same way as the human eye. The results achieved from the printer-ink-Palight combination are recorded, including the density, colour and fluorescence of the ink. Working from these measurements and comparing to the known reference or input profile, a CMYK reference library can be established in the form of an ICC output profile.

Sales and marketing manager of Palram, Gary Henton, explained: “The Palight sheet already has a wide colour gamut, but when profiled, all CMYK colours are enhanced to guarantee high quality digital printing with great results every time. This ensures that Palight not only works to achieve a stronger image, but can also increase the efficiency of the printer with reduced ink consumption as a welcome by-product of the ICC output profile.”
