Pitting their skills against the clock, 25 installers from across Europe took part in the first European edition of the Solar Gard Tintoff Regional Championship.

The event saw contestants fit tinted film to a number of car windows in a limited time, with the judges grading the quality of installation and the neatness of the interior and exterior of the car. Belgian, Kurt Groenendaels, of GF Window was the overall winner of the event.

In addition to the Tintoff championship, participants also attended interactive workshops on different installation techniques and observed demonstrations of ComputerCut, a computer-driven plotter. This offers access to an internet database containing information on car windows of all sizes, in exchange for a fixed monthly fee. The installer selects the type of car and sends all the details to the plotter so that film can be cut in advance enabling installers to plan multiple jobs in one day with reliable quality and consistency. During the event, delegates were also able to see Solar Gard's new Supreme automotive window film, which has a lifetime warranty against fading and is said to block 99 per cent of UV rays and reflect up to 58 per cent of the solar energy.
