Efficiency drives business growth
Quality of finish was the prime consideration when Nuneaton Signs decided to purchase a RollsRoller flatbed applicator.
Nuneaton Signs’ operations manager, Sean Mackey, takes up the story: “The quality of finish is far superior to what we could achieve with our previous laminating method. From first seeing the demonstration CD, we knew the RollsRoller was the way forward and the results were so good that we purchased a second machine and we’re currently looking at a third one.”
The latest machine to be installed is the 540 Model with a mechanised height adjustment system for raising and lowering the table. Operators can adjust the table to their own height, letting the individual work in a more comfortable position.
Nuneaton Signs is a not-for-profit supported employer of disabled people, manufacturing road traffic signs, commercial signs, screen print and digital print.
Sean continued: “With around 30 disabled employees, the height adjustable table was an ideal option for us as accessibility is a major consideration.
“With the RollsRoller we have been able to negate previous technical issues and faults. There is no ‘snaking’, which means efficiency on scrap and time has been considerably improved, as there is no need for signs to be re-worked. Although we use the machine mainly for production of road traffic signs, it is also used for digital print, which is something we could not do before.
“It’s a brilliant machine, which has enabled us to have confidence in growing the business and taking it forward. Although we are a not-for-profit organisation, the RollsRoller is enabling us to make profits which we plough back into the company and local authority.
“The training from William Smith was exemplary as it is provided by staff who use the machine daily, so they can advise from experience. After sales support and service has been excellent, with many of our suggestions being taken on board.”
The RollsRoller flatbed applicator is designed to offer benefits including increased productivity, faster production times, cost savings and improved health and safety. The RollsRoller is said to be one of the easiest, most accurate methods of applying self-adhesive films and graphics to flat substrates. It can be operated by one person, with the manufacturer claiming time savings of 50 to 80 per cent, depending on application.
The machine features an automatically adjustable roller height facility to accommodate different substrates up to 70mm thick. The variable roller pressure means the sign/graphic is firmly secured, ensuring accurate application of vinyl to substrate.
The RollsRoller is available in five different size models and is wheel mounted for mobility. It requires only a standard power and air supply.
