Meeting demand for double-sided Lamination

Broadening its offering to the digital print-on-demand market, GBC Commercial Laminating Solutions Group, has introduced the GBC 620os and GBC 5031, designed to finish one-sided and double-sided narrow-format digital output from HP Indigo/Xerox/Xeikon/Nexpress and Oce Variostream-printers.

Focussing on single-sided lamination, the GBC 620os is described as an entry-level unit featuring automated controls for the production of book covers, dust jackets and packaging, as well as sheeted gift cards, postcards and business cards. With a maximum speed of 15m/minute and maximum sheet size of 53 by 76cm, it is ideal for short runs from colour printers and offset press. GBC’s 620os one-sided tabletop finishing solution features a semi-automatic feeding system and integrated separator, a five-minute warm-up time and is equipped with adjustable core adapters for various film widths. The system can accommodate polypropylene and polyester films on rolls up to 1000m in length.

For two-sided lamination, GBC has introduced the GBC 5031 TS laminating system for commercial printing or in-house production environments. Featuring a dual heating system that incorporates both heat shoes and heated nip rollers, it is designed to offer strong adhesion at speed. Edge-slitters reduce post-process finishing and to further improve workflow, an in-line feeder connects to the laminator for precision sheet-feeding. This incorporates a large deck and vacuum feed head to accommodate a range of stock types and sizes. The stand-alone cutter completes the solution with in-line leading and traliling edge cuts.

Marketing and sales director GBC, Giel Klinkers, said: “Double-sided prints are growing in popularity and we believe there’s a need for in-house lamination.”
