Protecting graphics on the go
Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Products Europe has added to its portfolio with a range of professional-grade self-adhesive surface protection films for automotive exteriors. Avery 7000 Functional Films can be used over printed or computer-cut graphics and vehicle wraps, or as stand alone protection for vehicle paintwork.
Three transparent films are available in the new range: 150 micron and 325 micron vinyls offering a five-year applied life and a 200 micron polyurethane film offering a seven-year applied life. Complementing these core products are the exterior blackout films: 150 micron fine-grained and 200 micron medium-grained textured, black vinyl films for optimal surface protection. They can be converted into side striping and contoured decals for vehicle roofs, pillar and mirror trim and can be high-frequency welded to add logos or graphic elements to the film's surface.
Avery 7000 Functional Films are best converted by die-cutting to give a crisp edge to the decals. All are supplied with a UV-resistant, acrylic based adhesive, which is said to adhere to flat and curved car components and will withstand high-pressure cleaning equipment.
Sales and marketing manager, automotive, for Avery Dennison Graphics and Reflective Products, Bill Podojil, said: On-the-road damage to cars, vans and trucks is a major expense for commercial vehicle fleets, which can be reduced by protecting at least the critical areas of bodywork from stone chipping and surface abrasion. It also avoids costly replacement of single self-adhesive decals when printed or signcut graphics are disfigured.
