Head for the seminar theatre for some sound software advice

The show, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 1 to 3 May, is not only an excellent place to see what’s new, it also has an important educational focus. Visitors can gather information, undergo training and catch up with the latest advances in software at the free Adobe Workshop sessions running throughout the show.

Adobe expert, Terry Steeley, will be hosting a series of workshops that will be taking an in-depth look at programmes such as Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge, Aperture 1.5 and Adobe InDesign. Visitors will learn how a little know-how can make these programmes even more powerful design and production aids. All the sessions are designed to make users of the applications more creative and efficient.

In a first for the show the seminar programme will include an informal session called ‘Ask Adobe’. This new workshop will give anyone with design and production problems, or even burning issues or concerns, a unique chance to get independent advice directly from the experts in this open session.

Shorten proof cycles

For anybody who wants to create industry standard PDF files from any application, shorten proof cycles, improve pre-press pre-flighting or have greater control over secure document exchange, then the Acrobat 8.0 session is a must.

Colour management is a widely discussed aspect of the pre-press process. In response to this there is a new workshop covering this subject which will look at choice of colour space, profiling of input and output devices and more. This session will be essential for production staff, designers and sign makers alike.

The InDesign session will reveal secrets of software that boasts the most comprehensive typographical toolset ever, professional tools for pre-flighting and simple PDF creation.

Exhibition director, Catherine Iredale, said: “Digital Expo offers so much more than simply an opportunity to see the latest technology on the market. We know that our visitors also use the show to update their knowledge and understanding of what’s available to them, so seminars such as these play a very important part in this process.

“This year’s free programme is a must for anyone who works in the print and creative sector and will be packed with free information and advice. We advise getting to the seminar theatres early to be sure of a seat.”
