Investing in an Inca Spyder 320+ six colour flatbed UV inkjet printer has enabled Great Yarmouth based printer, Signwaves, to provide customers with a more economical service when conducting short run jobs. The equipment, which is Signwaves' first foray into digital technology, was purchased from distributor, Fujifilm Sericol.

As a result of installing the Spyder 320+, the company has won additional work from smaller businesses looking to produce affordable short runs of between ten and twenty-five units. It also ensures the company retains its existing customer base, which includes Boots, Pizza Hut, Sainsbury's and Starbucks, by streamlining the production of indoor and outdoor displays. These include pavement signs printed onto aluminium, forecourt banners printed onto polyester based mesh, and point of sale materials printed onto acrylic.

Signwaves' production manager, Steve Markham, said: “Taking just half an hour to produce 25 panels, compared to an entire day on our screen printing equipment, means large format printing is now a viable option for every prospective customer, no matter what volumes they want. This is because the Spyder 320+ is able to jet six colours directly onto rigid as well as flexible substrates with no post print processing such as varnishing or laminating, even for outdoor applications.
