Graphics application is said to be simple with Avery Dennison's new MPI 1005 Easy Apply RS self-adhesive graphic arts film. Suitable for a variety of wide-format digital print uses, it is both repositionable and slideable, reducing waste and saving time in decal application and removal.

The film combines a 53 micron conformable white gloss cast vinyl film with built-in air egress characteristics, a permanent, transparent adhesive and a separate grey primer layer to give optimal opacity. The adhesive also features long-term removability and low tack. This means adjustments in graphics positioning are easy and quick to make, with no need for wet application.

Avery Dennison product manager, Peter Avis, explained: "Easy Apply RS delivers exceptional handling characteristics for graphics application, particularly in commercial vehicle graphics and architectural signage on glass and walls. With large decal panels printed on MPI 1005, users can slide the graphics around on the substrate, even over compound curves, until the positioning is perfect. Even if the graphic has to be completely removed, that's no problem."

Once applied, MPI 1005 is designed to offer a glossy second skin, using air egress technology to eliminate bubbles and wrinkles. For optimal durability of inkjet-printed graphics, Avery Dennison recommends overlamination using Avery DOL 1030 3D-Laminate to protect against colour fading and scratches.

Suitable for use with a variety of digital printers, the film is offered with a number of web-based ICC profiles, available on the Avery graphics website. A dedicated site also offers tips and tricks for signmakers using the material for the first time.
