Two new co-branded  Xerox/Epson printers have been launched to address high quality indoor graphics applications such as proofing and point of sale material. The wide format Xerox/Epson Stylus Pro 7880 and 9880 are said to combine the quality and reliability expected of Epson backed by a full service and support agreement from Xerox.

The Stylus Pro 7880 offers a 24in printing width with an eight colour ink set, while the Stylus Pro 9880 offer the same choice of ink sets at 44in printing width. Both models use Epson UltraChrome K3 ink with vivid magenta, which uses high-density pigments to create more vibrant colour, especially blues and magenta. Print heads in the new equipment employ Epson's micro piezo technology for controlled ink delivery with a double nozzle for each colour to give faster throughput and print speed. Epson's variable-sized droplet technology also adjusts to image content with smaller drops for fine detail.

Xerox offers these products with a Caldera rip incorporating a number of features including, step and repeat, nesting, tiling and cost proof, which shows the cost of a print before committing to paper. This rip combined with the Epson print technology is said to deliver affordable ink usage.
