Colour standard set for UK certification
A working group of printers, print buyers and colour experts chaired by Paul Sherfield of The Missing Horse Consultancy is to develop a UK certification scheme for the ISO 12647/2 colour management standard.
The decision to establish a working party was taken at a meeting organised by the BPIF's technical standards committee and attended by 20 figures from the print and print buying community, together with experts in colour management and assessment services.
Committee chairman and managing director of White Horse Press, Peter Arnel, said: "There was a great deal of support for establishing just one UK certification scheme that will be accepted throughout the world in a similar way that Fogra and Ugra schemes are. Much work needs to be done however to determine how this might work in practice, without adding to printers' costs.
