Space for growing customer support
Following recent growth, Mannanco has moved into 11,500ft2 Leeds-based premises, not far from where the company started its business in the ‘70s.
Mannanco's managing director, Marshall Newman, said: "The move has given greater opportunities for us to expand our PVC and paper-over-board services, guaranteeing our usual quality and services but with space for larger volumes."
To meet demand for large volumes the additional space has filled quickly with new equipment, the main priority replacing the old guillotine with a new TUS 137 machine. This state of the art, fully automated guillotine has increased Mannanco's cutting capacity, meeting growing customer demand without needing additional machines or staff.
TUS' managing director, Dean Trewin, added: "It's fantastic to install a top of the range TUS machine local to our factory, especially given that Mannanco continually challenge the versatility of the machine with the wide range of materials used in their product range."
Marshall continued: "We now manufacture everything from self-adhesive pockets and ring binders to multifaceted designed presentation boxes and cases in a variety of sizes. Bespoke manufacturing includes the use of materials such as PVC, polyprop, cloth, paper and leather."
Another new machine, purchased from Tarrant Machines, is a CMC LPA50 large format case maker. Richard Tarrant said: "We have been involved with Mannanco Plastics since the early days and it is a pleasure to install the new CMC LPA50 into their Leeds Premises." Negotiations are taking place regarding a second CMC LPA50 machine.
However, the space is not only occupied by new equipment. With the recent acquisition of Chromatone, more people have also arrived. Chromatone is the standard colour reference system for the carpet industry, used by over 1,200 customers in 68 countries world wide. The two operations have worked together as a team for many years with Mannanco manufacturing specialised sample boxes for Chromatone.
Marshall concluded: "We are delighted to welcome Ian Robertson and his staff to the Group and are thrilled to be back in our home city."
