The new Daytona H700UV hybrid flatbed printer features grey scale print heads to produce optimum image quality with optional white ink support
Raster Printers has introduced the Daytona H700UV hybrid flatbed printer with grey scale print heads to produce photographic images with optional white ink support.
This 72in wide printer utilises Toshiba Tec's CA4 grey scale print heads with drop sizes ranging from six to 42pL. Available in a four-colour mode, with eight print heads, each featuring 318 nozzles, the Daytona H700UV can produce graphics at speeds of up to 29m2 per hour. The addition of two optional print heads allows white ink printing in multiple modes to support printing on clear substrates as well as those of different colours. A vacuum belt media handling system also means the printer can handle roll and rigid media up to 1,830mm wide and 45mm thick.
Suitable for indoor or outdoor graphics, the printer uses variable drop sizes at an apparent resolution of more than 1,200dpi, or true binary resolution of 1200 dpi, to meet the image quality requirements of most indoor graphics.
In order to print on a range of substrates, including vinyl, paper, PVC sheet and foam-core board, the Daytona H700UV utilises a dual mercury lamp curing system. To minimise heat generation the leading lamp can be shuttered, while the power setting for each lamp also can be individually adjusted. Other features include an automated head cleaning system, designed to maintain nozzle reliability, even after extended idle time. After purging ink, the head carriage travels across a vacuum knife, which removes excess ink from the nozzle plates without touching the plate surface, thereby protecting it from scratching.
