Lamination gets the shivers
GBC has launched its Arctic Pressure Sensitive cold lamination films. Processed between 40 and 50°C they are considered 'cool' solutions for heat-sensitive inkjet output. This follows the trend towards cold lamination to ensure optimal colour and finishing for banners, signage or trade show displays.
Cold laminators are used when the laminated material is sensitive to heat. For example, some inkjet printers use inks that can melt when heated and others use heat sensitive paper.
The biggest advantages of cold lamination is low maintenance and easy use. Warm-up time is eliminated and material moves faster through the laminator. There is no need to adjust the roller tension or thermostat setting as cold lamination machines use pressure sensitive adhesives to bind the film.
GBC's marketing & sales director for digital print finishing solutions, Giel Klinkers, said: "Finishing is no longer the afterthought of the print process. Today, print providers are recognising the value of sophisticated finishing technology to deliver added value and profit. Many specialised applications will benefit from our film's ability to deliver increased colour density with superior and luxurious finishing. Digital print providers can gain a competitive advantage and build their business by offering a unique and creative lamination product range to their customers."
