New range has lift off

Designed to offer pin sharp edge definition and high resolution at production speeds, the Apollo range is the latest in a new generation of high resolution hybrid UV printers from Planet Digital.

At entry level, the Apollo 16 is a roll to roll and rigid sheet printer measuring 1,600mm wide and featuring industrial print heads, with white. The range also includes the 2600 and 3200, progressing to the Apollo Storm, a 2.5 by 1.5 dedicated flatbed.

The printers feature industrial Ricoh printheads using grey scale attributes, which are said to offer a number of advantages. Strong firing jets allow for higher head height adjustment while producing sharp edge definition and production speeds are achieved with resolutions of 1,200dpi. White is included as standard, but this can be changed to colour if white is not required.

Three versions of the Apollo UV printer will be shown at Sign UK: two Apollo 1600s using alternative four or six colour ink configurations and the Apollo 2500.

Planet Digital's technical director, Gary Dare, commented: "From my background with Zund and other manufacturers, the Apollo is one of the best engineered products I have been involved with. With a two year manufacturer's warranty on mechanics and electrics, we are confident about the Apollo range."
