Alcan Composites and Robert Horne Sign and Display have teamed up to launch an auditable recycling scheme for Dibond ACM panels. The initiative, which complies with Alcan's ISO 14001 certification, will result in as much as 99.9 per cent of material being re-used.

UK and Ireland national manager for Alcan, Simon Philpott, said: "We aim to make the system as easy for fabricators as possible, to encourage rapid take-up and make a real impact on sustainability. Free material collection from customer premises will be offered and we are looking into other ways to make the scheme attractive, including financial incentives."

The new scheme, which will operate under Robert Horne's R3 Recycling banner, will cover Alcan's Dibond and Dilite ACM panels. Other ACM materials cannot be returned under the scheme, as Alcan's materials are unique in using AIMg1 alloy and are free of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium. The panels also feature single-material cores which can be recycled.
