Back in production
Five months after a massive fire destroyed its factory on Christmas Day, Kromex is back in business manufacturing screen inks. The company is now running at full capacity to fulfil current orders and build up stocks.
Kromex has three temporary sites and is looking at rebuilding the original facility in the near future. In short, Kromex is back. The company would like to thank its customers, who have been patient and genuinely supportive. This has made the business more determined to get up and running.
More than 70 firefighters brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading from the offices into the ink containment area. The water used to put the fire out caused extensive damage to manufacturing machinery. This had to be removed from the condemned building and taken away for refurbishment: a time consuming task.
The fire was attended by fire teams from nearby areas, including Elmswell, Bury and Haverhill and a water carrier from Newmarket was also called in. Thanks go to all of the brave fire fighters involved.
