Visitors to The Sign Show this September are encouraged to go to the pub where they can get stuck in and help themselves. Delegates will be able to have a go at creating pub signage in a demonstration area hosted by Peter Millichamp of PKM signs. The area will feature at a 45m2 pub exterior mock-up, split into two sections, one of which will be created using traditional sign making methods, while the other will be designed using modern disciplines.
Peter Millichamp explained: "The emphasis is on using new materials and skills to replicate what was produced traditionally. People believe that the old skills have gone, but they have simply been modified for the modern materials available. Design is a major element in signage and we will be using tried and tested design disciplines as the basis of the demonstration. We look forward to people actually having a go for themselves."
Designed to appeal to signmakers across the UK, The Sign Show assimilates traditional sign disciplines such as screen printing, routing, etching and engraving with advances in digital signage and print. Visitors will see the latest technologies and innovations, with hands-on opportunities to try out techniques including gold gilding and pinstriping.
Recent exhibitor additions include printed flag suppliers, The Hampshire Flag Company, China to West UK, Award Crafters and
Sign Elite, which offers an insurance product designed specifically for the sign and graphics industry.
Registration is now open for the event which takes place at Coventry's Ricoh arena. Register online, by post or fax.
