Selected for its ability to print, slit and seal in one process, PlotFactory has chosen a Jeti 3324 Aquajet to fulfil its large format fabric printing requirements. The Swiss print service provider purchased the direct-to-fabric digital printer from Gandinnovations.

Managing director of PlotFactory, Rinaldo Fochetti, said: "Using the Aquajet means we no longer need a separate sublimation machine, which will save us time and resources and will also have a positive impact on the environment."

PlotFactory prints on a variety of fabrics, from satin textiles, non-reflective block-out fabrics and canvas to transparent and light banner materials. Applications include event displays for flags and banners, indoor and outdoor advertising, exhibitions for museums and even home decoration such as table-cloths and carpets.

With a printing width of 3.2m, the roll-to-roll printer allows direct printing to any polyester-base fabric and is said to achieve fade-resistant colours using water-based dye dispersed inks. Equipped with 24 print heads, the system prints in six colours, utilising a built-in infrared heater to eliminate  extra curing equipment. It also features three high temperature slitting units on the rewind rollers allowing fabrics to be slit and sealed to the required size.

President of Gandinnovations, Hary Gandy, concluded: "To obtain direct colours, printing to paper first is no longer necessary. It is now one single process, which enables printshops to save time and money."
