Ilkley-based Tarrant Machines is opening it's doors in October to showcase the latest equipment in case-making and book-binding

Since 1995, Tarrant Machines has built a reputation for supplying the UK stationery, pattern book and book-binding industries with reliable finishing equipment. Predominantly sourced from Italian suppliers, machinery is available from basic start-up kit to sophisticated automatic systems.

Following a successful Drupa 2008, Tarrant is holding an open-house to demonstrate a best seller in its case-maker range. With over 22 lines installed in under three years and more being delivered throughout the autumn, the CMC LPA manual case-maker is proving to be a ‘must have'.

Mounted on a robust mobile unit with a vacuum table, guides and timers the CMC LPA is an integrated workstation comprising a gluer, edge turner and nipping press. For companies with small to medium runs, an immediate difference is noticed to output, with ring binders and/or cases produced up to three times faster than traditional hand methods.

Other applications for the system include short run oversized hard case book covers and litho mounting of printed paper to board for point-of-sale advertising.

The LPA machine supplier, CMC Italia, has been designing and building paper-over-board and bookbinding machines for over 70-years. From a small table top gluer to the larger automatic case making line, CMC's range is said to be in constant demand by UK finishers. Tarrant states that with the backup of a good Ilkley-based spares department, plus a reactive workforce in Italy, machine downtime is rare. Tarrant's aim is to help UK finishers meet deadlines without hassle.

Tarrant will also be showing a range of ancillary CMC kit including: the Rigel mitreing/round cornering machine (for mitreing wrapping materials or rounding corner boards); Menkar automatic double stage book press; and Crater joint forming machine to finish hard back books.

In collaboration with David Ives of Fibermark Red Bridge International, a range of Schmedt machines which compliment the CMC equipment will also be presented. It is also hoped the revolutionary Mitamax Photobook machine will also be demonstrated. This machine may change the world of digitally printed short run hard case books.

Samples, information and technical support will be available. Tarrant also provides the facility to test work and video the process throughout the year.
