The ability to handle small production runs makes Calson's F10 Foil-Tech system ideal for cost effective prototyping, as greetings card manufacturer, Oboe Publishing, illustrates.
Since purchasing the Caslon machine, the company is able to create design prototypes and send samples to sales agents. Customers such as Selfridges and Paper Chase select the designs they prefer and specify how many they require of each design.
Creative card designer at Oboe Publishing, Emma March, said: "In the past I would have to pay for a run of 500 cards, which would be put into storage if they were not used. With the F10 I can produce small runs. It has also enabled me to develop a new style of foiling because I have been able to cost effectively test different techniques through trial and error on the F10. I have also produced postcards, letterheads and compliment slips to promote business."
