The Sign Show - Golden opportunity to have a go
Visitors to The Sign Show not only have the chance to view the latest technologies and innovations, they are given hands-on opportunities to try out sign making techniques, including gold gilding, as demonstrated by Torquay-based, Chapman and Smith. Delegates are encouraged to try their hand at this skill at the show.
David Smith will showcase the techniques involved when using gold leaf, which can be a complicated material with which to work. Smith explained: "I have developed a new gilder tip for laying full leaf gold onto gold. Although there is a big market for digital printing, I believe tried and tested hand crafting skills are becoming more and more important to today's sign maker. I look forward to illustrating my work."
