The latest generation of Foam-X board features a new core for improved flatness and rigidity

Foamboards from Alcan Composites have been redesigned with a polyurethane core technology, designed to offer improved flatness and rigidity despite exhibiting a lower density than previous extruded polystyrene boards.

Like its predecessor, Foam-X New is described as ultra light with a good strength to weight ratio, making it ideal for screen printing, vinyl graphics or for mounting short-term signage, displays and exhibits. Additional advantages of the new foam are said to include brighter white surfaces, higher opacity, improved production tolerances and resistance to solvent glues and inks.

In addition to easy cutting with no crumbling or tearing, the new core construction allows a choice of finishing on die cut edges. Straight-edged cutting blades will achieve a soft tapered edge, while fine-toothed blades can be used to achieve a square edge.

Foam-X New is available from distributors in three or five millimetre thicknesses, in sheet sizes of 508 by 762mm up to 3,000 by 1,400mm.
