Specialist distributor Midwich is to sell Canon's large format CAD/GIS and general use printers, including media and inks. This extends an existing partnership between the two companies and will see Midwich offer the whole range of imagePrograf LFPs, including the iPF610, iPF710, iPF720 and LP17 and LP24 printers.

Suitable for computer aided design and geographical information systems markets, the printers are available in sizes up to A1, providing five-colour printing on a range of substrates.

Commercial director, Midwich, Alex Ward, said: "We have been working with Canon dealing in products for document scanning and the CCI market and we are delighted to add its imagePrograf range to our portfolio. Both companies recognise that the IT sectors represent an untapped market and we will be using our expertise to promote the range."

The latest figures from Infotrends show that Canon has increased total market share in Western Europe across the technical LFP segment between 24 and 59in sizes by 10 per cent from 2006 to 2007.

UK director, Canon partner channel, Matthew Searle, said: "Our growing range of CAD/GIS printers, coupled with the launch of our General Use range, mean now is the perfect time to make these products available to a wider reseller audience."
