Polyester film technology from MacDermid Autotype has been used to provide a durable and scratch resistant display for a range of central fire alarm systems from Minimax.

The company's Autotex film has been specified as an overlay film for the display of the FMZ 5000, providing a combination of optical clarity and protection, said to make the alarm both simple to use and robust. The film consists of a polyester base and a flexible, chemically bonded, textured coating with a clear finish designed to ensure the display is easy to read in a variety of light conditions. It has been used in the membrane touch keypad of the display, ensuring fire fighters have fast, easy access to information in an emergency.

Product line manager at Minimax, André Lickefett, explained: "Central fire alarm systems have to work perfectly even after being on standby for many years. Autotex was ideal for this application as it offered both optical clarity and long service life."
