A clever cliché
Kama has developed a new positioning system said to enable die-cutter operators to quickly and precisely mount clichés on the cold mounting plate outside the die-cutter. There are two key factors that lead to time savings: first, cliché mounting can be carried out precisely in one step; second, the die-cutter can continue working on other jobs during mounting.
The system is suitable for hot foil stamping, holograms and cold embossing and for the set up of die cutting tools. It is ideal for jobbing printers, who increasingly deal with small production runs on items such as sales folders, goods tags, book covers, ticket sleeves and CD pockets. It can also be adjusted to work with die-cutting and hot foil systems from other manufacturers.
Operators will see a number of benefits. The positioning programme determines the mirrored target position of the cliché, so operators no longer have to mirror the position, eliminating a possible source of error. Precision is also ensured through the temperature-adjusted display of the required position. The cliché can then be positioned on the mounting plate in congruence with the target position and fixed with register accuracy in one step and with no trial runs required.
