Sign up to support schools
With over 25,000 students registered to take part in Proskills' PrintIT! initiative this Autumn, print companies are urged to support their local schools by signing up to the twinning programme. Under the programme printers team up with local schools to share their knowledge of the industry, offer support to teachers and provide advice on coursework, giving pupils a feel for print by bringing industry into the classroom.
Project director of PrintIT!, Paul Evans, said: "Having reached our best ever annual registration figures, we need printers to twin with schools. The input students get from printers is invaluable in offering a real insight into our industry. Furthermore, the coursebooks from schools with a twinning partner display a greater understanding of the printing process."
This year, The Print Room Group in Bracknell, Berkshire, was named Best Twinner for PrintIT! 2008. Marketing director at The Print Room Group, Simon Lewington, said: "Not only are we helping our own industry address its future skills base, it has also given us the opportunity to increase our profile in the local community."
