Graphic Printing Technologies has added Mimaki's UJV-160 to its portfolio. The new printer can print onto PVC and vinyl media and is designed for display, outdoor signage and vehicle-wrapping applications.
GPT's managing director, Stuart Cole, said: "The Mimaki UJV-160 uses breakthrough UV LED curing technology to deliver excellent quality printing directly onto PVC and vinyl. This significantly broadens the range of solutions that print providers can offer to their customers. We have carried out extensive testing on this product and are very excited about the potential it has in the market."
The UJV-160 enables instant drying, massively increasing productivity potential. Media is ready for finishing immediately after printing, making job turnaround time from printing to processing much faster than many other printing methods.
The machine uses Mimaki's new flexible UV LED curable ink set, which is formulated to handle up to 200 per cent expansion. This prevents cracking during printing, even when the surface is bent or curved. The technology makes the UJV-160 ideal for printing onto thin, flexible PVC substrates used for vehicle wrapping and shutters.
Stuart concluded: "We have already demonstrated the UJV-160 to some potential customers and they have been really impressed with its quality and flexibility. We expect this printer to be a major success during 2009."
