Companies and brand owners using ultra-violet (UV) invisible ink to protect their products against counterfeiting could be threatened by the widespread, illegitimate availability of the technology, according to Sun Chemical. This has led to the emergence of a new generation of infra red (IR) security inks and coatings, such as SunGuard Apollo, which uses specialist pigments from a secure supply chain to offer a combination of security features.
The product is designed to be compatible with current printing practices and printers already using UV fluorescent inks, can integrate SunGuard Apollo into these types of inks to provide enhanced UV/IR protection. This will enable printers to offer their customers
a security enhanced product without compromising on current style, design or colour. The Sun-
Guard Apollo portfolio is available either within the ink or as a clear varnish.
Detection devices for use with SunGuard Apollo, are available from Sun Chemical only after intended use has been clarified.
