Substrate recycling sorted
Plastics sheet distributor, Amari Plastics, has received positive feedback on the benefits of its recently launched recycling initiative (ARI). One of the first customers to sign up is Luminati Waycon, a manufacturer of bespoke POS items, office furniture, display and retail fittings, cabinets and cake stands using substrates, like acrylic, foam PVC and polycarbonate.
Managing director of Luminati, Steven Senior, commented: "After a site survey by Recycled Plastics, the wholly owned subsidiary of Amari Plastics, we determined the style and number of cages we would need. They were delivered and put straight into production."
General manager of Recycled Plastics, Andy Welsh, explained: "The stillages have been designed to handle different formats. At Luminati we were able to use standard one tonne multi stack cages, maximising the efficiency of collections and minimising our carbon footprint."
Steve Senior added: "Amari Plastics offers a closed loop system, supplying sheet and removing my scrap. It is likely that this kind of process will be legislated for in the future, making it a necessity rather than a voluntary thing, so we wanted to be ahead of the game. Certification of the process allows us to demonstrate that we are moving in the right direction."
