Gardners has installed the UK's first HP Scitex FB7500 printer to increase its capacity and offer customers a competitive alternative to screen printing.

Cardiff-based Gardners operates a range of HP printing equipment including pairs of XP2300, FB6100, XP5100 and TJ8350 printers, plus nine XP2100 machines. The company specialises in the production of high volume banners, posters, billboards, retail point of sale items, plus the development and production of specialised software solutions.

Designed to target traditional screen-printing applications, the FB7500 is designed to offer users the highest productivity of equipment in its price class, with the ability to produce 105 (1.2 by 2.4m) sheets or 95 full beds (3.6 by 1.6m) per hour. The machine uses a six-colour process to maximise quality and enhance applications.

Gardners managing director, Richard Gardner, said: "With the HP Scitex FB7500 Printer we are able to achieve high quality prints at considerably higher speeds than on our other flatbeds. We have also been able to transfer some of the work from our large format eco-solvent machines giving us savings on finishing and increasing our capacity."

With the ability to print on both flexible and rigid media the FB7500 offers a range of features to maximise throughput and increase versatility. Using three quarter automation, plus a loading mechanism said to be accurate and intuitive, the machine provides the productivity and adaptability needed for large format applications.

HP's UK and Ireland large format country manager, Nancy Janes, added: "Digital is opening new doors, allowing cost-savings and productivity gains from previously analogue jobs as well as new applications that can only be printed with digital technology, like billboard versioning and localised point of purchase and point of sale displays. The variety of digital solutions available now will soon fill almost every application."
