Agfa Graphics is to grow its large format offering with the acquisition of Gandi Innovations' assets. Gandi's portfolio of mid-range large format printers is complementary to Agfa's entry-level and high-end inkjet offering and the proposed transaction will therefore allow Agfa to serve a large installed base.

Over the period 2001-2009, Gandi Innovations has created a large installed base of inkjet printing engines and has built up a wealth of expertise and engineering excellence in large format printing technology. Its customers include many point of purchase and large format printing companies, many of whom rely on the company's technology.

Agfa Graphics' vice president inkjet, Richard Barham, said: “Combining the Gandi and Agfa Graphics' portfolios will result in growth for our inkjet business based on a more complete system portfolio.”

Gandi Innovations' CEO and co-founder, Hary Gandy, added: “The combined capabilities and coverage in customer service and research and development will accelerate the launch of new products, deliver new business opportunities and further expand our service to customers.”
