Supersize printers box clever
Display printer, Digital Plus, has chosen to showcase its capabilities in plus size printing by creating a promotional cube to highlight the West Yorkshire Playhouse theatre's current production
Published:  02 February, 2010

Using the theme of the classic children’s novel The Secret Garden now showing at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Digital Plus took this opportunity to showcase its specialist abilities in printing supersized graphics.

It produced what it believes is a unique and eye catching Clever Cube, featuring promotional images of the show on all its facets. The cube is tailored to demonstrate the company's quality print technology beautifully. Each side measures 1,500mm and it is hoped the final product will have a permanent site.

To realise this project, Digital Plus utilised its Liberty Océ Arizona 350 XT flat bed printer, which boasts a massive capability of up to 3,050 by 2,500mm in a single panel. The installation, which cost in excess of £200K, means the company is now able to offer high quality, oversized productions directly onto virtually any surface, including, aluminium, acrylics, PVC, glass, plastic MDF and sheet metal.

Providing the capability to print onto interiors and soft furnishings, roller blinds, furniture and doors, the equipment is already assisting many companies to promote their products in very different ways.

Digital Plus claims its place as the first company in the country to offer this type of super-sized high definition printing direct to so many materials.

Director of Digital Plus, Owen Russell, said: “The investment we have made in our new print equipment means we can deliver just what our clients want and really think outside the box, using our creativity to the full. The Secret Garden project has been a delight to work on and we hope many families will enjoy both the giant cube and the show.”

Head of marketing at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Nick Boaden, added: “When Digital Plus approached us about creating a massive design based on The Secret Garden, we understood straightaway how this could work for our business, but the result has far exceeded my expectations.”
