Certification ensures sustainable paper products
Smurfit Kappa UK has achieved chain of custody (CoC) certification for its entire UK corrugated and paper manufacturing capacity.
The two-year programme encompassed Smurfit Kappa's major UK operations including two recycled paper mills, 15 corrugated facilities and paper mills, sheet plants as well as specialist plants for sheetfeeding and paper printing. This integrated approach to certification enables Smurfit Kappa to offer fully certified packaging solutions on over 95 per cent of its products.
Certification has already brought benefits to Smurfit Kappa UK by accelerating the development of IT applications in support of chain of custody compliance, with on-line, real-time reporting throughout the manufacturing and procurement process. Also in logistics with the development of segregated and quarantined storage of recycled and certified paper stocks and supply chain management of external paper suppliers for purchasing certified raw material.
