A number of sponsoring companies from the print industry have joined forces to produce a 2011 calendar to raise money for The Printing Charity. The calendar received its official launch at the Konica Minolta ihub in London to a gathering of guests from industry bodies including the British Printing Industries Federation, the British Association for Print and Communications and the Independent Print Industries Association.

The calendar is a collaborative effort from a number of individuals and companies. Photography was provided by Picfree, the stock image library and Katherine Anne White, with design by Surrect Media UK. Printing was by Konica Minolta using a bizhub PRO C65hc high-chroma digital press. 1,500 copies of the calendar were produced on Xerox supplied Colotech silk coated 170gsm A3 stock, with wirebind finishing by Renz. Polestar provided post and packing.

The calendar shows images themed to the relevant month with an emphasis on vibrant colours to take full advantage of the wide colour gamut provided by the high-chroma digital technology of the bizhub C65hc. Donations of £5 for copies of the calendar are recommended with a target of £7,500 in total fund raising.

The Printing Charity exists for those who work or have worked in printing, publishing, graphic arts and the allied trades. The charity targets it resources at people who are on low incomes, including dependents of people with five years’ continuous employment in the industry sectors the charity represents.

For The Printing Charity Stephen Gilbert, Chief Executive, commented: “We’re delighted that so many of our friends in the print industry have worked together on this important fund raising calendar. £7,500 would add another 15 or more people to those we already help. Grants go out to somewhere around 400 people a year and we are keen to expand this help, particularly given the current economic situation.”
