Counterfeit-proof packaging, based on a combination of ultraviolet visible inks and holographic labelling, is the latest introduction from MacDermid Autotype as it updates its product branding. Introduced from the beginning of 2007, the new difficult-to-reproduce packaging features on all screen print films including Autotype Capillex, Alphastar and Novastar photo-stencil, indirect stencil and knife cut films.
It will incorporate high security labelling, printed using UV sensitive inks and featuring holographic designs with embedded security devices. To help dealers check that each consignment genuinely comes from MacDermid Autotype’s UK manufacturing centre, the company will be supplying laser pens to check pack labels at the point of distribution or use.
Marketing communications manager, Maurizio Fantato, explained: “Counterfeiting is a growing problem, especially in parts of Asia. Screen printers have a high expectation of product performance, consistency and reliability when purchasing a MacDermid Autotype branded product and although counterfeit items may be cheap they are inferior in all other respects. The new packaging will therefore help dealers and end users to be certain that they are purchasing the genuine article, backed by our quality and performance guarantees.”
