Rigid foam sheet goes slimline
Published:  01 October, 2007

Bridging the gap between foam board and rigid foam PVC sheets, Alcan Composites’ Forex Smart lightweight rigid foam sheet is now available in five millimetre thickness as well as the existing 10mm sheet.

UK sales manager, Simon Philpott, said: “The rigidity and lightness of Forex Smart allows the new five millimetre sheets to be used in applications where the substrate is not supported by a framework as it isn’t prone to sagging under its own weight.”

To achieve this performance, Forex Smart has an expanded polystyrene core and surfaces of UV resistant high impact polystyrene (HIPS) suitable for both indoor and outdoor signage and displays, with a two year outdoor lifespan.

With opaque white surfaces on both sides, it is ideal for direct digital printing with UV curing and solvent based inks as well as screen printing with standard inks formulated for polystyrene. Forex Smart is also ideal for use with vinyl lettering. It can be cut and fabricated using conventional tools and is light enough to be supported by pressure-sensitive adhesive hangers. It will also accept ring hooks screwed into edges for use as suspended signage.

Sheets are supplied in 1,220 by 3,050mm and 1,220 by 2,440mm sizes.
