Something to sing about

Digitally printed fabric produced by JM Textiles created a backdrop to a production of Die Fledermaus at the Kuststien Operetta Summer Festival held this year in Tyrol. A total of 800m2 of Mediatex Presto was used in the construction of the open-air stage, which was entirely covered with the fabric.

Mediatex Presto was selected for its whiteness, the ease with which it can be stretched onto wooden frames, its tear resistance and flame retardant properties, as well as its print quality. The resulting stage sets met all fire and safety regulations as well as standards set by the client, who carried out a number of tests during the pre-production stage. Printed frame structures were sprayed by the fire brigade with high-pressure water hoses and dried in the sun to observe any changes in the fabric or printed image. Structural engineers also measured tear resistance against winds of up to 130km/h, which is ideal as the festival is located in an exposed position, prone to extreme weather conditions.

Mediatex Presto is available in the UK from ArtSystems, appointed the UK trade distributor.
