Celebrating new interest in print
Published:  29 May, 2008

Now in its third year, the PrintIT! Initiative has selected Alex Robertson of Bispham High School and Arts College, Blackpool, as overall winner of PrintIT! 2007/8. The winning entry was selected from the eight category winners in a competition which registered more than 23,000 participating students from over 570 schools.

The award, which was presented by BBC Six O'clock news presenter and patron of The Fairtrade Foundation, George Alagiah OBE, and will see Alex undertake an educational trip to St Lucia to see the benefits of Fairtrade.

Chairman of PrintIT!, Martyn Elmy, said: "Alex's entry stood out because the design was innovative and had the greatest immediate visual impact of all the designs that were considered. There was strong brand identity and the item was able to convey a message about Fairtrade. The design concept was also cleverly extended through a range of other promotional display items."

Chief executive of Proskills UK and one of the final judges, Terry Watts, continued: "It befits the strength of our industry that we can unite to attract young people into print, through PrintIT!"
