B-Print is celebrating its tenth anniversary with Will Skelchy at the helm, during which time it has grown from a small screen printing business to a major UK point of sale and display provider offering a range of digital, litho and screen printing services to the major retail groups.
Its success has been achieved through investment in technology, with the company spending over £2m on equipment over the past two years. It has extended its two-colour Thieme 5060 to a four-colour multi-colour screen line, for example, and has purchased an Agfa Anapurna XL2 digital press with white capability.
The Thieme 5060 is used for spot as well as four-colour work and is a reliable workhorse requiring little maintenance. Will Skelchy explained: "Screen shouldn't be overlooked by any buyer because it can be the most effective in giving impact. Litho is good, but does not have the impact of screen and point of sale and display materials are often viewed from a distance where the coarser dot gives a better effect to the naked eye."
The Anapurna digital line has been added for store development and point of sale work, with the white facility enabling the company to handle clear plastics and vinyls as well as paper-based substrates. This UV solvent ink, piezo inkjet line runs at up to 30 boards an hour and can handle products of up to 250cm side, both roll and rigid materials.
Will added: "The Anapurna will be a real asset for campaign work, for creating a prototype such as dressing a store before expanding it across the whole estate. At that stage we would switch to a litho or screen solution."
