Decision - Time
April '08's edition of Screen Process & Digital Imaging featured the announcement of Lauren Displays investment with Vision Supplies Ltd. After extensively researching the market place Lauren had decided to make a significant investment in new screen cleaning equipment.
Matt Foney, Production Director and Eliot Martin, Operations Director were responsible for the research into the equipment, they discounted many of the traditional screen cleaning machines, equipment they considered to be outdated.
Eliot takes up the story, "Until we were introduced to the Chim 92 screen cleaning system by Vision we considered most of the machines to be a much of a muchness and in my opinion most of the machines are. Virtually every other machine other than the Chim 92 equipment applied oil based solvents and conventional chemical strippers, all of the machines with the exception of the Chim 92 models also required the frame to be anti-stained afterwards at high percentage levels and anti-staining is something we want to eliminate from our process. It is clearly important that our investments move our company forward and the only equipment we thought could deliver the results we needed was the Chim 92 M3 machine."
Matt Foney comments, "Doom and gloom seems rife across the country today, we are proud to say here at Lauren that we are certainly bucking the trend, there are many reasons for this, one of which is careful considered investment in new capital equipment helping the business develop to meet our client's ever increasing production demands.
The Chim 92 equipment we ordered was chosen after lengthy discussions and very careful considerable, a decision consolidated by the performance guarantees and presentations offered by Vision Supplies."
Chim 92 - The Next Generation Machine
Chim 92's installation engineers along with Vision's technical staff installed the equipment at the Aylesford site at the end of May this year and the results achieved are outstanding. The M3 machine installed is the latest generation of equipment and has some innovative new features, Chim 92 continually develop their products to stay at the cutting edge of this technology and have formulated some new chemical products which take the cleaning results to another level yet again.
Matt Foney continues, "Even though we had carried out all the research, directly comparing the machines available in the market place and having asked Vision for cast iron performance guarantees we were still a little shocked by the results achieved by the machine, and I must say by the service offered by Vision. So far after 4 weeks of operation we've not anti-stained or re-cleaned a single screen.......it does exactly what it says on the tin, and in my humble opinion Vision's attention to detail and customer service is unparalleled within the screen industry."
Paul Waterton, Managing Director of Vision Supplies offers his perspective on the next generation of Chim 92's screen cleaning equipment.
"As most of the readers of this magazine will know sometimes business can be taxing, to receive the kind of reaction we have from the production team at Lauren makes everything worthwhile. We have been championing the Chim 92 machinery and chemical products for a number of years now with many high profile successes well documented. The Vision and Chim 92 team have continued to develop the machinery and chemical products and this next generation of equipment supplied to Lauren Displays hopefully demonstrates just how successful the results of our machine and chemical products are. Lauren's machine has the lowest chemical transfer of any of our machines, it uses a sophisticated mixing process to balance 2 chemical products which are applied to remove ink, stencil and stain images.
It allows us to perfectly balance the equipment to a client's specific needs, and given the wide range of inks and emulsions available this is invaluable. Chim 92's latest development allows us to vary the percentages of chemicals required to achieve optimum results, they are incredibly effective and economical in use, effectively producing a bespoke solution for each client."
Customer Focus - Not Lip Service
Vision Supplies prides itself on its customer focus an approach that is securing the company significant long term business with many blue chip clients. Colin Hale is the Operators Director at Vision Supplies and he is responsible for overseeing the installation of the equipment, Colin continues, "Throughout daily life we've all bought things we wish we hadn't, whether a kettle or a plasma TV we expect to receive expert advice, a quality product and value for money, this isn't always the case. At Vision we try to exceed expectation and at least deliver everything we have promised, from the initial presentation, sale and throughout the installation process, and more importantly for years afterwards and that's not lip service! We are, to my knowledge, the only company to offer extended warranties on screen cleaning machinery for 7 years. All of the latest features on our screen cleaning machines are designed to be retro-fitted and this means that we can upgrade equipment that was supplied several years ago. Our customers are not victims of massive technology changes which write off their investment, we work closely with our customers not against them."
Perhaps Vision's approach to its clients can best be summed up by Matt Foney, "When you are spending large sums of money this is how you should be treated and machine installations should be handled."
Fact - Not Fiction
Vision Supplies are the only company to offer 'money back' performance guarantees on screen cleaning equipment in the UK. If the equipment is not capable of removing ink, stencil, ghost images and degreasing and drying in-line at the levels guaranteed by the company they will refund all monies paid against the equipment in full.
The equipment is comprehensively covered by the manufacturer's warranty at installation; this warranty can be extended for up to 7 years which is longer than any other guarantee offered against this type of equipment in the UK.
The chemical products formulated by Chim 92 for the machinery do not contain oil based solvents, the formulations are unique and the results being achieved are unsurpassed, these chemical products also efficiently 'self clean' the machines.
Waste water discharged from the latest equipment has average COD levels well below most industrial consents to discharge in the screen printing industry.
Installing a Chim 92 screen cleaning machine may offer screen printing companies significant cost benefits which include massive reductions in VOC discharge, cleaner waste water, considerably extended screen mesh life, a reduction in the volume of screen frames required, lower labour costs, more efficient throughput of screen frames and full control of the chemical products used.
