Sun Chemical aims to help wide format printers increase productivity and profitability following a deal to become a UK distributor for Apollo multi-functional, UV wide format printers.
Apollo comprises four models ranging from 1.6 to 3.2m. All the printers are designed to produce quality images direct to a variety of inexpensive, uncoated substrates, from rigid display boards to roll-fed media. The range is available in four or six-colour format, plus white and varnish.
Sun Chemical's equipment manager, Mike Farmer, said: "We chose the Apollo range for its build quality and price performance, and it complements our range of inks, chemicals and screen-related consumables. We are confident that we can now supply an Apollo printer to suit every requirement and budget. Our customers' needs and applications in this market vary enormously, from vehicle graphics and estate agent boards to exhibition graphics and high quality POS. Therefore, it is important to provide a range of printers which can cope with this diversity.
"These applications and markets have been served traditionally by screen process printing. However, the digital process is now well established and is very much seen as a complimentary offering to allow printers to deliver short-run production economically without compromising on quality. Apollo is also priced as an entry level investment, which fits well with printers which want to expand their capabilities. With the Apollo range, printers can also benefit from increased productivity and profitability, as the output does not require laminating or mounting to achieve rigidity and protection for outdoor application."
